Whew. Mothers Day.

I was at my parents house twice this weekend. My moms birthday was Saturday, so we had dinner, and then yesterday we did the Mothers Day brunch thing. French toast with fresh strawberries, yum. Are we the only family that goes through two cans of whipped cream in one meal? That may have something to do with my brother covering his entire plate and all of his silverware in the stuff. Just maybe.

When I got home from work on Friday, Nick asked me if he could have two hundred dollars to buy me a Mothers Day present. Hey genius, from now on just ask me for the ATM card. Duh. He got me a new cell phone with the Nex*tel two way radio dealie, since I really miss my old two way phone. (That he gave away to his mothers husband, but that is a different story.) I started chirping everybody I know, it was great fun. Then he and his mother went out yesterday to smoke pot and hit up the porn store (this is their Mothers Day tradition, I could not make this shit up if I tried) and they went to Lord & Taylor for some handbag love. I made out pretty well with a new flowery tote and some perfume (Britney Spears Curious) that came with an adorable little blue purse. Yay purses.

So yesterday I had the boys all to myself all day for Mothers Day. It was so fun. We hung out in our newly fenced yard in the sun for about five hours. Nick set up the swingset under a big tree, so the fort part is covered by a branch. They played Jungle for a really long time, until Lukas discovered that he can really freak me out by buckling himself into the baby swing and flipping himself upside down so hes just hanging there. Guh. I really wish he wouldnt do that, my heart cant handle it.

We had a ton of wood scraps left from the fence, so we piled them all into the burn pit, flagrantly ignoring the tags on them that told us not to burn them. We burnt them, and we didnt even die. We got a bit tipsy, but I think that was the beer. That and the cheesiest radio station ever, The Brew (which does not appear to have a website). Its this new Milwaukee station that plays 80s rock, which goes really well with a bonfire and an 18-pack of Bud Light. Until they played The Final Countdown. That was when I just cracked up and had to change it. Cheesiest. Song. EVER.

Lukas picked up a phrase somewhere. I don't know where he got this, but everything is "all night long" now. I'm serious. "I want to take a bath ALL NIGHT LONG." "I want to cuddle with you ALL NIGHT LONG." "I like peanut butter and jelly ALL NIGHT LONG." "Papa, hold the car like that ALL NIGHT LONG." And, my favorite one EVER, seen below. Awesome. I'm hoping if I just ignore it, it will go away.

Oh, and boring medical update here.

Kids are: "Who Are You" The Who

Last person who pissed me off: Hmmm. I would have to say coworkers again.

Heard in my house: "I love you all night long, Miss Danielle." Oy.
